Meet Bella Franco- HR Coordinator at The Missing Link

At The Missing Link, our people are at the heart of everything we do. Their expertise and dedication drive IT transformation for our clients, delivering real impact every day. But there’s more to them than just their roles. In this series, we take a closer look at the unique passions, experiences, and quirks that make our team who they are, both inside and outside of work.

From growing up on a farm to becoming a trusted voice in HR, Bella’s career has been built on empathy, resilience, and a genuine love of people. As our HR Coordinator, she plays a vital role in shaping team culture, welcoming new faces, and championing experiences that matter. Thoughtful, community-minded and quietly tenacious, Bella brings a deeply human approach to everything she does.

Let’s take five minutes to get to know her better.

Bella Franco Sydney-1

Tell us about yourself. Where did you grow up, and what were you into as a kid?

I grew up on a farm just outside of Coffs Harbour. My Dad is a farmer, so I was surrounded by my family and lots of animals. My grandparents lived next door, and I spent most of my childhood with them. In the garden with my Nonno or spending time cooking with my Nonna. Family and strong family values were always something I was surrounded by.

What did you want to be when you were younger? And what was your first job?

don’t remember really wanting to go down a specific path. I liked the idea of being a vet. I loved animals, so I was drawn to the idea of helping them. My first official job was a shop assistant in a small corner store run by some family friends. That early experience taught me the value of people-focused work, accountability, and clear communication – principles that continue to shape my approach as an HR professional today.

What has your career journey looked like so far?

I moved to Sydney right after my high school graduation, and I got a job in my local pharmacy. I stayed there throughout university and really loved it. The people and community focus made the job very special. It was the start for me to realise that I could connect my strengths to helping people and what they need while drawing on my strong family values, which is, in many ways, the essence of me as a person. That was really the beginning for me, and this passion for people has followed me throughout my career. I love helping people, the human element, and finding solutions that are the best outcome for each individual I interact with.

After I finished my Bachelor’s in Psychology, I moved into health and social care recruitment. I worked on about every desk you could; casual, temp, and permanent roles. Over time, I built a solid portfolio, but what I valued most was improving the candidate experience. I loved the idea that someone’s day at work could feel better because they were treated with care and respect. We spend so much of our lives at work, so it should feel like a positive place to be.

That drive to create supportive, people-first environments is what led me into HR. It gave me a way to be more intentional about the impact I wanted to have. Eventually, that path brought me to The Missing Link, where I get to do that every day.

Moving from my hometown to Sydney was huge. It was over 600 kilometres, and I didn’t know a single person. That move taught me a lot about strength, independence, and resilience. It’s an experience I’ll always be grateful for.

Education has always been something that I’ve valued. I was the first in my family to graduate year 12, then later university and then being accepted into a master’s program. My grandmother wasn’t able to finish her schooling, so I grew up very aware that education isn’t something everyone gets the chance to pursue. Being the first to take that step was a big motivator for me – it taught me to back myself, work hard and take every opportunity as they arise.

At The Missing Link, I have had the opportunity to lead some great people-focused initiatives. I have run graduate events in Sydney and Melbourne for our Security Operations Team, Internship nights with our Service Experience Team, coordinated our mid-year events across multiple cities, and partnered with the Bill Crews Foundation on Christmas Hampers and food preparation. One of my favourite experiences was speaking at a careers night at Rosebank High School and hosting work experience students. It’s been rewarding to help create those touchpoints for others who are just starting out. I love being part of a team that’s passionate about giving back.

How did you end up joining The Missing Link?Bella TML

I’d never worked in tech before. In my interview, someone asked how tech-savvy I was, and I confidently said, “Oh, I can fix a printer.” At the time, I genuinely thought that was a great answer.

Since joining, I’ve been blown away by how much our Infra and Cyber teams do. It’s fascinating.

What's your role now, and what do you enjoy most about it?

I’m the HR Coordinator. I originally joined as an HR Administrator and really value the career path and progression that I have had at The Missing Link. It's a place where I've been able to continuously learn and develop my skills and expertise as an HR professional.

I am responsible for managing the day-to-day HR tasks. Including onboarding and offboarding tasks. I handle employee queries, end-to-end payroll and reporting, as well as leave processes and contribute to and run HR projects that add value to both employees and The Missing Link.

I love that my role brings together all the things I enjoy. I get to meet new people, solve problems, be creative, and support our team. One of the best parts is being a part of every part of the employee life cycle. Being there on their first day, the last day, helping navigate parental leave, promotions and all aspects of their employment. It is truly so rewarding.

Where do you see yourself professionally in a few years?

Right now, I’m loving the variety that comes with being a generalist. Every day is different. One moment I’m planning an event, and the next I’m working through a tricky spreadsheet. I’m open to where the path leads, as long as I can keep learning and making a difference.

Would you say you're a tech-freak? Any favourite gadgets?

Not quite. I have automated my home lights, but that is about as far as I have gone. I play some cosy games on my Nintendo Switch to unwind, but generally, I’m happy keeping it simple.

Bella Dream day

If money weren’t a factor, how would you spend your dream day?

I’d be in a vineyard in northern Italy, close to my family. I’d start with brunch with friends, go for a walk somewhere beautiful, and just enjoy the slow pace of the day. Good food, good music, and being surrounded by people I care about. That would be perfect.

What do your weekends usually involve?

You’ll usually find me on a walking track somewhere close to nature, followed by brunch with friends or a bit of shopping. Finding a new restaurant with my boyfriend, or winding down with a good bookmaybe even baking.

What are you passionate about outside of work?

I love spending time with my favourite people. I also enjoy reading, and I’ve taken up crocheting. I mostly make gifts for friends. Lately, I’ve been getting back into baking and cooking. Listening to music while I bake is one of my favourite things. I also love seeing live shows. Whether it’s a musical or a concert, there’s something special about it.

What's your favourite thing about living in Sydney

It’s the mix of things. You can enjoy a beach morning and then head into the city by the afternoon. There’s always something going on, but you can still find quiet spots when you need them. And of course, the food scene is amazing.
