Alastair MacGibbon, Head of the Australian Cyber Security Centre, has officially opened our new state-of-the-art Security Operations Centre (SOC) in our Artarmon offices today.
Alastair MacGibbon leads the implementation of the Government's Cyber Security Strategy, transforming Australia's cyber security landscape to realise the economic and social benefits of a cyber resilient nation.
We have built Australia’s newest Security Operations Centre, with an investment in the latest equipment and cutting-edge software combined with one of the most certified security teams in Australia and around 100 experienced personnel. Resulting in an incredible, secure facility where business information systems (web sites, applications, data, databases, data centres and servers, networks, desktops and other endpoints) are monitored, assessed, and defended.
Our SOC will allow businesses to leverage its security experts to help with strategic planning for best practice multi-cloud security, tactical day-to-day security monitoring and threat analysis to deter, detect and respond to potential threats around the clock. With the Notifiable Data Breach Bill coming in effect February this year the SOC will provide businesses with the breach-visibility they now need.
“Businesses are under threat from cyber criminals at an unprecedented level. These threats can occur without warning, can be directed at any part of the business, and come from anywhere around the globe.
With threats becoming increasingly sophisticated and wide-spread, our new Security Operations Centre offers visibility like never before. It’s equipped with the very latest technology for monitoring, addressing and defending against large and complex threats, in a private, secure location,” Aaron Bailey, CISO, said today.
From conception, our SOC only took 79 days to open and provides the software and hardware our security experts need to excel in their roles. We hope to repeat the project on a smaller scale in our Melbourne office in the future.
