Office 365 to Microsoft 365 migration

You are probably wondering how difficult it might be to migrate your existing Office 365 licenses to Microsoft 365. Especially if you are a larger organization, this may feel like a daunting task. Thankfully, Microsoft has created comprehensive guide on how to migrate from Office 365 to Microsoft 365 to help the transition.

FastTrack – what are your options?

Even though we are migrating within the Microsoft ecosystem of products, it is not as simple as flicking a switch, there are migration and setup requirements that are required for a successful transition. FastTrack is available for free as part of your Microsoft 365 subscription. FastTrack helps you make the transition at your own pace and was designed to accelerate the deployment and rollout across your entire business.

Deployment Advisor

Additionally, you can use the Microsoft 365 Deployment Advisor to help guide you on how to take advantage of FastTrack to deploy Microsoft 365 across your organization. This will allow you to select setup options according to the state of your devices and you will be provided with the best options for onboarding them. Next you can prepare your devices and environment, the Deployment Advisor will help you prepare to upgrade your devices to the latest version of Windows 10 with the added option to schedule automatic Office installations.

Depending on the state and age of your devices, you will have the choice to either upgrade, prestige, or deploy the Windows 10 operating system. Once this has been completed, your devices will be under the management of Microsoft 365. Finally, you can deploy Windows Analytics to gain deep insights into your devices. You will have the choice to deploy the Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection to further secure your devices.

Test Labs – a customization playground

Due to the gargantuan nature of Microsoft 365, there is no set way to roll out a deployment plan. However, there are a few deployment strategies you can use in your implementation of Microsoft 365:

  • Serial deployment
  • Parallel deployment with non-overlapping user rollout
  • Parallel deployment with overlapping user rollout
  • Up-front infrastructure and rollout of the end-to-end configuration

Before you take the plunge into Microsoft 365’s products and features  Microsoft 365 Enterprise Test Lab Guides is the best way to dive in and learn about Microsoft’s offering. It provides you with a way to gain understanding by having the ability to build your sandbox and see everything working before you begin implementation. Isteps you through the configuration of infrastructure and features through a test environment. It’s the perfect tool if you want to train  yourselfshowcase, or build a proof of concept tailored to your requirements and needs.
