Here at The Missing Link, we have a lot of experience working remotely through our modern workplace strategy.

As the Sales Manager, I genuinely care about helping our clients with their needs and business goals. I have drawn on my experience to provide you with some tips to help support your productivity and wellness when working from home:

Productivity

Create a designated space to work that is separate from your relaxation space – if you can work where there is a view.

Get out of your PJs and dress as if you were going to work to – at the very least brush your hair and teeth.

Equip yourself with the right tools that suit your virtual and physical workplace needs; this includes decluttering the unnecessary junk.

Set expectations of communication between your direct reports and those who you collaboratively work with.

Agree on boundaries with your work/social life to ensure there are limited interruptions to your productivity.

Set realistic short-term and long-term goals to achieve while working from home – using a to-do list to plan out your workday will help to map and priorities tasks.

Track the hours (or minutes) that you are spending on tasks to stop yourself from over multi-tasking or losing focus.

Allow time to socialize as this will help to mimic your regular work chat.

Physical and Mental Health

Create a routine to replace your would-be commute time to and from work – this is a valuable time to focus on your wellness.

Prevent cabin fever by getting out in the fresh air either pre-work, lunch break or post-work.

Switch on your video when having an online call to help stay connected to your co-workers. This can make up for the lack of face-to-face interactions.

Don’t forget to move! It is essential to stretch and move regularly – it might help to track your movement to ensure you’re getting enough time away from your workspace.

Set time out of your day to eat, and plan your meals to help reduce mindless eating.

Listen to a podcast or discover a new music genre to help remove the sound of silence in your home workspace.

Create a set knock-off time to your workday; it’ll help create a barrier between work and your personal life.

Celebrate and be proud of your work achievements – working from home is not easy, and it takes a while to adjust to, so celebrate your wins virtually with your team members.
